In this conversation Gavin, Erik, and their buddy Riley wrap up the book of 1 Samuel talking through chapters 21-31. Read those chapters, listen to the audio of the conversation, and then chip in on the comments section below with your own thoughts on the Scripture and any responses to these three questions:
- What word, phrase, or theme most resonated with you personally as you read this section of Scripture?
- What does this portion of Scripture invite us to as a community of disciples?
- If you’re sitting down with these chapters, what drink or snack would pair best with the reading?
Next week we have a little divergent conversation about the Psalms of David that are tied to the narrative of David’s wilderness years – specifically Psalms 34, 59, and 63!

Jen: The part about discernment struck me, especially the comments about discerning properly what the Will of God is. David did a good job of that. I, myself, need to stop and consider that more often, because I “think to myself that God has provided a situation/opportunity”, and it may be a temptation to go with what I think is okay.
Good job guys!
