Update on Online Worship

In addition to the worship content that will continue to be posted here each Sunday (video sermons, music, prayer and scripture reflections), both Faith Covenant Church and Holy Community are now adding a live component to their online worship services via ZOOM (10:00am for FCC, and 10:30am for HCCC). We hope adding these gatherings to our online worship increases the sense that our worship really is something we share in together, even while physically apart!

Songs of Worship – “Strength Will Rise” and “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less”
Strength Will Rise
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord
Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary
You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles
My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
His oath, his covenant, his blood
Supports me in the ‘whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in his righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
Offering
Part of our worship includes the giving of tithes and offerings. Click the buttons below for more info on how to give to your church, and use this prayer as you give:
Lord, let our congregation be a witness to you:
immersed in scripture,
constant in prayer,
joyful in worship,
generous in giving.
A loving, supportive community
reaching out to those in need.
Accept these gifts we offer, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Kid’s Story
Did you do the actions…? Do you think you’ll be able to remember that verse by the end of this time of worship? What about by the end of the day?
The story of Jesus and Bartimaeus that Julia read is found in Mark 10:46-52. Grab a Bible and check it out for yourself!
After Bartimaeus had called out to Jesus for mercy, Jesus asks Bartimaeus the question: “What do you want me to do for you?”
Imagine that Jesus asked you that question. What do you want Jesus to do for YOU? What are you hoping for?
Sermon – Zechariah 9:12
Questions for Reflection
Take two minutes to reflect on the sermon, ponder the questions below, and respond to God in prayer. If it’s helpful for you, play the following instrumental music (“In Christ Alone”) as you pray.
- What do you fear?
- What is the “fortress” to which you retreat when you are scared, worried, or disoriented?
- What does it look like to live as a “prisoner of hope”?
Scripture Reading – Hebrews 6:18-20a
Read the following Scripture aloud.
God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us.
Song of Worship – “In Christ Alone”
Feel like singing some of that hope? Join in on declaring that it is in Christ alone that our hope is found!
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, Who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The love of God was glorified
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the pow’r of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand
‘Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand
