In this conversation Julia and Gavin discuss John 16-18. Read those chapters, listen to the audio of the conversation, and then chip in on the comments section below with your own thoughts on the Scripture and responses to these three questions:
- What word, phrase, or theme most resonated with you personally as you read this section of Scripture?
- What does this portion of Scripture invite us to as a community of disciples?
- If you’re sitting down with these chapters, what drink or snack would pair best with the reading?
Next week we will hit our 100th episode of this crazy pod, and celebrate by talking through the finale of John – a heck of place to be for the 100th: John 19-21!

Hey Gav: My thoughts on Pilate: He was an administrator. Basically followed the rules of Rome, to keep the peace and avoid insurrections. So, here comes a problem that he has to deal with. I think he does not think Jesus is an issue, but has to also deal with the Pharisees. So, like a true administrator he gives them an option: do you want me to kill Barabbas (a known criminal) or Jesus. To his dismay, they chose Barabbas. Since he gave them the choice, he has to follow up on their choice of Jesus and to avoid a confrontation he just sentences Jesus to death and washes his hands of the problem. No remorse, just doing his job. Tom
