Bible Convo (Psalms – Imprecatory) – 10/14/20

In this conversation, Pastors Erik, Cody, and Gavin discuss the Imprecatory Psalms, specifically looking at Psalms 58, 109, and 139 as examples. Read those Psalms, listen to the audio of the conversation, and chip in on the comments section below with your thoughts on the three questions we discuss:

  1. Which Psalm did you choose as a representative of this genre and why does it resonate with you personally?
  2. Why does this type of Psalm matter to the life of the church?
  3. The Psalms are songs, so, if you’re sitting down to read these Psalms what song would you put on in the background to set the mood?

For our next Bible Convo we will discuss the Psalms of Ascent using Psalms 121, 126, and 131 as examples!

  1. So Erik, you finally convince me that 58 is the best…It makes me very uncomfortable because of the language used and the pictures painted. I was convicted by the conversation that suggested maybe we are not passionate enough about the plight of orphans and widows, about the societal problems that we see around us. The song to set the mood? Pat Benatar’s 1980 hit song “Hit me with your Best Shot!”
