Sunday Worship – 09/13/2020

Greet One another!

It has been a busy bustling week in many of our lives. Often times those we love and those we are called to live with and toward get left out as the busy builds… Take a couple minutes to reach out to someone on your mind or heart. Call, text, set up a walk or a coffee. Remember that we live life before God together!

Call to Worship – based on Psalm 103

Pick someone to be the reader. Everyone else gets one line that they repeat. Would the goodness of this one line sink into your hearts!

Leader:         The response to the psalm is:
The Lord is compassion and love

All: The Lord is compassion and love

My soul give thanks to the Lord,
All my being bless His holy name.
My soul, give thanks to the Lord
And never forget all His blessings

The Lord is compassion and love

The Lord is compassion and love,
Slow to anger and rich in mercy.
As a father has compassion on his sons,
The Lord has pity on those who fear Him.

The Lord is compassion and love

The love of the Lord is everlasting
upon those who hold Him in fear;
His justice reaches out to children’s children
when they keep His covenant in truth

Bless the Lord (10,000 Reasons)

Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul worship his holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

The sun comes up its a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul worship his holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

Your rich in love and you’re slow to anger
You name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul worship his holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul worship his holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul worship his holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

Message – Numbers 14

Scripture Image Reflection and Guided Prayer

Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem where he will be crucified. Jesus is beginning to experience more and more rejection. In Luke 13 Jesus says, “How often have I wanted to gather you together as a hen gathers her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.”

Take a few moments to pray. Pray through these movements:

  • Where do I wander from God’s guidance and care? Name it. Confess it.
  • Where or how is God trying to gather me like a hen gathers chicks?
  • Why am I resistant to God’s care?
  • Simply listen for God’s invitation as God’s desire remains to gather us and care for us. If it helps, play this instrumental based on Psalm 121. There is a line that we could do well to live into, “As I come and I go, I am safe for I know, that Your care is sufficient for me!”
“He’s Ever Over Me” Nathan – HCCC
  • Give thanks to this God, who is like a mother hen in desire to care for us.
  • God, you are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. And for this we are so thankful. Amen.

Offering and Thanksgiving

Sometimes our gratitude gets lost in the midst of busyness. Take a minute to Give thanks to God for all the good, the provision, the kindness and care that came your way this week. We invite to make your thanks tangible with a gift to a ministry like ours or another Kingdom work as the Spirit directs you.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Goodness of God

I love you Lord
Oh your mercy never fails me
All my days I’ve been held in your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
I will sing of the goodness of God

All my life you have been faithful
All my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God

I love your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest nights I’ve been held like no other
I’ve known you as a Father
I’ve known you as a friend
I have lived in the goodness of God

All my life you have been faithful
All my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down I surrender now
I give you everything
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me

Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down I surrender now
I give you everything
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me

All my life you have been faithful
All my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God

All my life you have been faithful
All my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God
I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God
I’m gonna sing of the goodness of God

Way Maker

You are here moving in our midst
I worship you, I worship you
You are here working in this place
I worship you, I worship you

You are way maker
Miracle worker
Promise Keeper
Light in the darkness
My God that is who you are

You are way maker
Miracle worker
Promise Keeper
Light in the darkness
My God that is who you are

You are here touching every heart
I worship you, I worship you
You are here healing every heart
I worship you, I worship you

You are here turning lives around
I worship you, I worship you
You are here mending every heart
I worship you, I worship you

You are way maker
Miracle worker
Promise Keeper
Light in the darkness
My God that is who you are

You are way maker
Miracle worker
Promise Keeper
Light in the darkness
My God that is who you are

That is who you are
That is who you are
That is who you are
That is who you are
(REPEAT)

Even when I don’t see it you’re working
Even when I don’t feel it you’re working
You never stop, you never stop working
You never stop, you never stop working
(REPEAT)

You are way maker
Miracle worker
Promise Keeper
Light in the darkness
My God that is who you are
