  1. Loved the beatitudes in the Message. Struck by 2 things how we are to be the light in this darkness. And not to worry about tomorrow . Don’t like fish or bourbon so I’ll stick to ice cream!

  2. Tom and I listened this morning. Wondering why Becky is up at 1 am :). I did like the Beatitudes in the Message….it really makes that section so clear! I agreed about the messiness of Jesus’ heritage, but there were heroes in there as well. God can use everyone for/as his lights to the world. Tom was touched by the “treasures in heaven”, particularly Matt 6:21. And our choice of drink is coffee……and we are not even Scandinavian.

  3. – I clicked the link to this Bible Convo after attending church online this morning. I read the chapters from a New King James Version bible, with the words of Jesus in red. I’ve not used a bible with Jesus’ words in red before. It was very helpful to focusing on His sermon on the mount.
    – Matthew 4: 23-25 Jesus Heals a Great Multitude is the part that struck me, in these times of COVID-19.
    I think the people who were healed were the ones who sought him out, and asked for healing. And for those who asked, but it doesn’t seem that they’ve received healing (those who have died as a result of COVID-19) if they called on Jesus, I believe that they have received perfect healing, and will be with Him in eternity.
    – I was drinking coffee when I started to read the passage, so that works for me.
    Thanks very much guys. These sermons and conversations are a great way for us to stay connected.
    And to help focus on the fact that God is good. All the time!

  4. Just a note fyi, the time on my comment says 5:21pm March 29, 2020. It is actually 12:21pm March 29th.
    So maybe Becky wasn’t up at 1am! Maybe it was closer to 8pm when she posted!

  6. I don’t think the times are really correct, Becky would not be on her device at 1 AM! I am trying to remember what stood out, after all that was a few days ago and a lot has happened in the mean time. I think I was struck by the mention of John the baptist’s clothes…is that a Joan Rivers red carpet question, ” So John, what are you wearing?” “Camel hair and Leather belt, it’s a classic.”
    I don’t know why it highlighted. Did he have a beard or hair? Did his appearance get the attention so his message could grab the heart? I am so happy he is so human that at Jesus’ baptism, John had no doubts but later he sent people to ask Jesus whether He was the “one” or do we wait for another…Food pairing? Gotta go with Lukefisk, a Scandinavian tradition!!
